பார்வதியம்மா, தமிழீழ தேசியத்தலைவரின் தாயார்!
விடுதலைப்புலிகள் இயக்கத் தலைவர் வேலுப்பிள்ளை பிரபாகரனின் தாயார் பார்வதி அம்மாள் இலங்கை, வல்வெட்டித்துறை மருத்துவமனையில் இன்று காலமானார். உடல்நலக் குறைவு காரணமாக அவர் வல்வெட்டித்துறை அரசு மருத்துவமனையில் சிகிச்சைப் பெற்று வந்தார். அவரை பெருவாரியான சிங்கள மக்கள் சென்று பார்த்து, வணங்கிச் சென்றனர். அவருடைய வாரிசுகள் வெளிநாடுகளில் இருப்பதால், இறுதிக் காரியங்கள் குறித்து இன்னும் முடிவு செய்யப்படவில்லை என்று இலங்கையில் இருந்து வரும் தகவல்கள் தெரிவிக்கின்றன.
செவ்வாய்க்கிழமை வரை அவரது உடல் பொதுமக்களின் அஞ்சலிக்காக வைக்கப்படும் என்று M.K சிவாஜிலிங்கம் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
வன்னி இறுதிப் போரின்போது பிரபாகரனின் தாய் மற்றும் தந்தை திருவேங்கடம் வேலுப்பிள்ளை இருவருமே ராணுவ முகாமுக்கு அடைக்கலமாக வந்தனர். இருவரையும் தனி முகாமில் வைத்திருந்தது ராணுவம். கடந்த ஆண்டு திரு. வேலுப்பிள்ளை காலமானார்.
அதைத் தொடர்ந்து பார்வதி அம்மாள் முகாமிலிருந்து விடுவிக்கப்பட்டார். சில மாதங்களுக்கு முன் உடல் நலக்குறைவு காரணமாக மலேசியாவில் உள்ள உறவினர் வீட்டுக்குச் சென்றார் பார்வதி. பின்னர் மேல் சிகிச்சைக்காக தமிழகத்துக்கு வந்த அவரை, விமான நிலையத்தில் இறங்கவும் அனுமதிக்கவில்லை இந்திய அரசு. அப்படியே திருப்பியனுப்பப்பட்டார்.
மீண்டும் மலேசியாவுக்கே திரும்பிய அவர், ஒரு மாதத்துக்குப் பிறகு இலங்கை சென்றார். வல்வெட்டித் துறை அரசு மருத்துவமனையில் சிகிச்சை மேற்கொண்டார். முதலில் அனுமதி மறுத்த இந்திய / தமிழக அரசுகள், நீதிமன்ற உத்தரவின்பேரில் சிகிச்சை பெற்றுக் கொள்ள வருமாரு அழைத்த போதும், அதனை அவர் ஏற்கவில்லை.

Parvathi Amma passes away
The people of Jaffna have flown black flags on Sunday, mourning the demise of 79-year-old Parvathi Amma (Vallipuram Parvathi), the mother of LTTE leader Velupillai Pirapaharan. Community organisations have flown their flags at half post amid harassments by the occupying Sri Lankan forces. The funeral of late Parvathi Amma is to take place at Valveddiththu'rai (VVT) Hindu Cremation Grounds on Tuesday. Born on 07 August, 1931, Parvathi Amma, resolved to stay with her people at her native village, after being denied entry to Tamil Nadu for medical treatment last year.

Several personalities abroad, especially from Tamil Nadu, were struggling to get Sri Lanka Army's so-called Defence Ministry Clearance to attend the funeral of Parvathi Amma, informed sources told TamilNet.
The remains of late Parvathi Amma, kept at VVT, will be taken to Theeruvil grounds and placed near the destroyed monuments of Lt. Col. Kumarappa, Lt. Col. Pulenthiran and Col. Kiddu, where people in their thousands turned up last year to pay last respects to late Thiruvengadam Velupillai, who passed away while being kept in isolation and illegal custody by the Sri Lanka Army at the age of 86.
Due to multiple displacements during the military offensives of the Sri Lanka Army, and later incarceration at the notorious Panagoda Camp, her health had deteriorated. One of her hands had been badly affected. The mother was also afflicted with blood pressure and diabetes.
The house of Mrs. Parvathi Amma, where Mr. Pirapaharan was born and raised, was destroyed by the occupying Sri Lanka Army in April last year following reports that the house had attracted the attention of several Sinhalese from South visiting Jaffna.
The monuments at Theeruvil were destroyed by the Sri Lankan military a few months ago.
The LTTE leader's parents had been living in Tamil Nadu in India, but opted to go to Vanni before the war broke out and they preferred to be with the people during the war.
